How It’s Made
Hand Stamping & Laser Engraving
Every personalised detail tells a story. At Gerties Treasure Box, some products are hand stamped and others are laser engraved. We use aluminium, copper and brass for our hand stamped pieces and stainless steel for our laser engraved designs.
What is hand stamping?
Hand stamping involves striking individual metal stamps with a hammer to impress each letter, number or design into the surface. Each impression is made separately so slight variations in spacing, alignment and depth are a natural part of the process. These subtle differences give each hand stamped piece its own character.
Our hand stamping materials
Aluminium is lightweight and resistant to rust, making it a practical choice for everyday accessories. Its silver coloured finish offers a simple, understated look without adding much weight.
Copper has a warm, reddish tone that gives personalised pieces a distinctive appearance. Over time it naturally develops a patina, adding depth and character. It can also be polished to restore a brighter finish.
Brass has a warm, golden colour and a timeless look. It is durable and, like copper, develops a natural patina over time. Polishing helps maintain its shine if you prefer a brighter finish.
What is laser engraving?
Laser engraving uses a focused laser beam to mark a design onto the surface. It allows for fine detail and a consistent finish, making it well suited to intricate designs and personalised wording.
Our laser engraving material
We use stainless steel for our laser engraved pieces. Strong, durable and resistant to rust and corrosion, it is well suited to everyday use. Its clean, silver coloured finish is easy to care for and requires little maintenance.
Which technique and material are used for my order?
The technique and material depend on the product and its design. Please check the individual product description for the details of your chosen piece.
